This Privacy Policy explains how Kanopy ("Kanopy", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website at https://trykanopy.com and our content-marketing application (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name, email address, and the credentials used to create and secure your account.
- Brand information — the website URL and social profiles you connect so Kanopy can analyze them, and the resulting brand profile (voice, audience, palette, content pillars, competitors, and related research).
- Content you create — the ideas, drafts, images, captions, and other assets you generate, edit, schedule, and store in your library.
- Payment information — billing details processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers; card data is handled directly by our payment processor.
- Usage and device data — basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and how you interact with the Service, used to operate and improve it.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including analyzing your brand and generating content;
- process payments, manage your subscription and credit balance, and prevent fraud;
- communicate with you about your account, security, and service updates;
- monitor, debug, and improve the Service; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. AI processing
Kanopy uses third-party AI providers to analyze your brand and generate content. The prompts, brand data, and reference material needed for a given task are sent to these providers to return a result. We use providers that process this data to deliver the requested output; we do not sell your data. See our subprocessors below.
4. How we share information (subprocessors)
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements that require them to protect it. These currently include:
- Our cloud infrastructure provider — database, authentication, and file storage;
- Our payment processor — payment processing and subscription billing;
- Our AI model providers — text and image generation;
- Firecrawl — website analysis during brand setup;
- Apify — retrieving public social-media data for audits and competitor research;
- BytePlus — short-form video generation;
- Resend — transactional email;
- Mixpanel — product analytics (page views and feature-usage events, stored in your browser's local storage; used to understand and improve how the Service is used, never sold or used for third-party advertising).
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
5. Public and third-party data
To build your brand profile and competitor research, Kanopy analyzes information that is publicly available on the websites and social profiles you provide. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any URL or handle you connect to the Service.
6. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete content from your library at any time. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hi@trykanopy.com. You may also access and update much of your information directly in your account settings.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by the subprocessors listed above. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
